For those with tinnitus (any noise in your ears), hearing aids are proving to
provide relief as well as better hearing. A recent study found that hearing aids provided minor to major tinnitus relief for 60% of those interviewed, 22% enjoyed major tinnitus relief, 39% reported no relief and 2% reported a worsening of their tinnitus. While traditional hearing aids can alleviate tinnitus, some instruments are actually tinnitus maskers as well, generating some type of noise to more effectively “cover up” the tinnitus. A new example is the Widex Mind 440, a hearing aid system that generates a meditative tune as a background to the hearing aid function.
